i realize that one day, sooner than i’d like to believe, that i will not be spending day after day climbing waterfalls and mountains or swimming in clear, blue seas, but right now i just want to let go of all those feelings, accept today and enjoy the moment. epol falls near bukidnon.

you can see tiny remnants of our colorful tents near our campsite well above the clouds, a couple hours away from the peak of mount apo. if you look carefully, lake venado looks a bit like a lady with her hair blowing in the wind.

safety first in the philippines! i think we crossed a total of six of these bamboo bridges back and forth over the marble river on the kidapawan trail up to the peak of mount apo. this one was probably the most developed.

my 10 & 15 year old cousins near lake venado, our camp site, just a couple hours away from the peak of mount apo. these kids are inspiring. i was not climbing mountains at this age, or playing in cover bands, or conceptualizing art, but these kids are, and are on their way towards ridiculously bright futures. honored to have climbed with them and my uncle.

i was taken by a friend to a fishing village where we hired a local fisherman to take us around on his boat to waterfalls and pristine, remote beaches that we kept all to ourselves. on these beaches were amazing rock structures that we went cliff diving from. these are the unexpected experiences i yearn for when i travel.

mount mayon. the world’s most symmetrical (some say most beautiful) volcano in the world. this deadly volcano, with regular eruptions, killed 4 german climbers and their guide just last week after a surprise eruption. taken on the ride from calbayog to tacloban yesterday.
